The rowing club has said goodbye to Gap Year Student Mackenzie Robertson. Macca has made a big impact on both the school and the rowing club. We wish her well as she picks up her studies back in New Zealand.
The Grange School Rowing Club would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and relaxing New Year.
The Rowing Club were delighted to present a cheque to Bowel Cancer UK for a total of £6750:00. All the money was raised by sixth form rowers who completed the 31 mile Boston Marathon to raise funds in the memory of Brian Kellett who lost his battle to the disease late last year. We also wish to thank Matthew Langridge for providing a GB top to auction, raising an incredible £660:00 towards the total.
Rowing will be available on Tuesday 29th December (9:00am until 12 noon) and on Saturday 2nd January (9:30am until 12 noon)The rowing machines will be available all through the exam period and will be situated in the theatre foyer. Rowing returns to normal times from Saturday 9th January.
We are holding an internal time trial on Sat 12th Dec. Please note that time penalties will be awarded to the whole crew if you are late, not wearing race kit or have not completed your ergo test!! You have been warned. Crews attached.
Today, we welcomed the WJ14, 15 & 16 squads from Northwich RC. Training in mixed crews with our girls, they were put through their paces by coaches from both clubs.
Four of our Jnr rowers, Alex & Sam Blayney, Sam Oliver & David Eccles teamed up with members of Northwich RC to compete at this years Head of the Float in Merseyside. They won their event and finished third overall. See link for full results http://www.lvrc.co.uk/Float2009Resultsrev.pdf
Christmas lunch – Saturday 19th December after training 1:00pm until 2:30pm (ish!) Parents are welcome see attached form. LAST YEAR WE FILLED EVERY TABLE SO THIS YEAR WE ARE DOING IT ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. Please note we do not make a profit on this, it is our way of thanking The Leigh Arms for looking after us over the year.
Katy Jacques sculled well to finish 6th out of 58 WJ16 scullers at the Hampton Small Boats Head. It is the first time the school has entered this event.
