Boatnaming

The rowing club would like to thank all staff, governors, coaches and parents for their attendance at the recent boatnaming ceremony. All concerned were deeply touched by the honour.

We did it!!

Boston Marathon results;
Race distance - 31 miles.
Conditions – Hot with a slight head wind.

Women’s IM3 Quad Scull, Katie Gyurkovits, Abi Watson, Maddie Philps & Alice Dewhirst – time 5hrs, 11mins & 28secs.

Women’s IM3 Quad Scull, Flo Pickup, Sarah Hewett, Mackenzie Robertson & Kat Heine – time 4hrs, 59 mins & 6secs

Men’s IM3 Eight, Jamie Wilson, Tom Dickerson, Sam Blayney, Lewis P-B, Henry Oakes, Ollie Gaskell, Alex Blayney, David Eccles & Cox Ellie Perchard – time 3hrs,57 mins & 16 secs

Henley Scholarship for Fiona

Congratulations to former pupil and Rowing Captain Fiona Hill on being awarded a Henley Charitable Trust Coaching Scholarship. The scholarship will allow Fiona to continue with her MRes in Sports Science whilst further developing her coaching skills with youngsters in the East Midlands.

John & Ed shine in Poland

Former pupils, John & Ed Ford raced at the European Universities Regatta in Poland, both reached the 'A' final in double sculls with Ed winning the silver medal.

Please note our boatnaming will now take place on Sat 19th September at the boathouse. Time 11:30am.

Summer rowing sessions

The rowing club will be open to all members on the 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd August, 9am until 12 noon. NOTE We will not be rowing on Sat 29th Aug (Bank Holiday weekend)
Rowing starts back officially on Sat 5th Sept and please note our NEW TRAINING TIMES - 8:20am registration and collection at 12:30pm

National Championships 2009

The WJ15 2x (Katy Jacques & Emily Ford) sculled well to reach the semi final stages and the MJ16 2x (Tom Ford & Rupert Wiltshire) were unlucky to be beaten by .4 of a second to miss out on the bronze medal.
Past pupils, John & Ed Ford were also racing. Ed picking up a Gold medal in M U23 2x and a bronze in the M U23 4+. John finished 5th in M U23 2x.

Ahoy Captain!

We are delighted to announce that Kat Heine will captain the rowing club for the 2009/10 season. Her vice-captain will be Florence Pickup.

Summer rowing.

Dates and details for rowing sessions over the summer will be posted on this site ASAP and will be updated.
There are unlikely to be any sessions in July.
